Day 144 of 2012 

The #NetRaiserYVR event was a charity tweetup that had the goal of raising money to send mosquito nets to countries that suffer from wide-spread malaria cases; all of the proceeds from this event were put towards that goal! Even though only a small group came out to this event, we still managed to raise $500 towards helping families in need (50 families will be to get mosquito nets from what was raised)!

This is the first of many such tweetups, so much more will be raised as time goes on :)

May 19th - Day 139 of 2012 

With the good weather becoming more frequent, it makes sense to go out on more photowalks; so starting off this trend was a photowalk around Granville Island. It has actually been over a year since I last visited Granville Island (Day 58 from Project 365 -http://flic.kr/p/9mFDnM), although I never posted those photowalk pictures on my flickr or facebook page. Unlike last year, on that cloudy day, I didn’t see that many interesting things to get pictures of during this photowalk and it was clear day too. It was a nice afternoon still and I did get to try out an old Canon EF 20-35mm f3.5-4.5 lens as well.

The next photowalk is supposed to be to Steveston Village so I’m really excited for that (and my chance to try the BBQ at Hogshack as well)! :)

Starting off another semester with more recruitment for UPhoto! I’m not sure if we’ll be at SFU Surrey’s Club Days though.

You would expect a long post but there isn’t much to say about this day actually. This was my first time attending the Epic Sustainability Expo and my main task was taking pictures during the fashion shows that happened over the course of the day (although I did miss one of the three). The booths were somewhat interesting and there were a few things that I did kind of want but over all, it wasn’t that amazing to me :/ But it is nice seeing more environmentally sustainable products being made!

Day 496 - The Reflectors Photowalk on Flickr.

Project Epilogue - Day 496: The Reflectors Photowalk
May 11th - Day 131 of 2012 

Today’s photowalk was more of an instructional meetup than an actual photowalk. It was about the basics of using a reflector during a photoshoot (and other little tips). We started off in small groups to see the effects of using a reflector on a person and then we went back to the main group since the host of the event had had brought a mode along. I really like how the pictures of the model turned out :D

I have known that a reflector would be really useful during a photoshoot (on a sunny day at least) but I still need an assistant to hold it for me. I will get around to getting one eventually.
